Also there is a recent article in the Telegraph titled “It’s the illness that has no cure. But this doctor believes he’s found the answer to chronic fatigue syndrome”. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/health-fitness/wellbeing/sleep/perrin-technique-fatigue-syndrome/

What is CFS/ME
It is a condition characterised by:
- Abnormal muscle fatigue
- Sleep disturbance
- Headaches
- Cognitive dysfunction
- Depression
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- irritable bowel
- Irritable bladder
- Sore throat
- Increased sensitivity to light/sound
What causes CFS/ME?
Primarily a combination of disregulation of the sympathetic nervous system following a period of stress and a poor lymphatic drainage system. The stress trigger can be physical (through postural problems or injury), emotional (work, family), environmental (exposure to toxins, mould), or an overworking immune system fighting an allergy or an infection (viral, parasitic or bacterial).
It leads to this debilitating and life changing illness which Dr Perrin has spent his life’s work investigating since the mid 90’s, becoming the Institute of Osteopathy’s first Research and Practice award winner in 2015.

What is the Perrin Technique
Perrin Technique is a gentle osteopathic treatment for patients with ME/CFS, focused on clearing poor lymphatic drainage, promoting regulation of the sympathetic system and stimulating fluid flow around the brain and spinal cord.
What can you expect during your first Perrin Technique appointment?
The first CFS/ME appointment is 90 minutes long and includes a full case history, examination, explanations and obtaining consent. We will also discuss the course of the treatment in your case and the research that backs up this treatment approach.
The examination involves:
- a full postural assessment
- a palpatory examination of the lymphatic vessels of your neck and breast tissue – as this is considered an intimate area, we will ask you to sign a consent form and you may choose to bring a chaperone with you
There will be no treatment during the first appointment as the assessment itself will give you an understanding as to whether you will be happy to proceed with treatment and you will need some time to decide this. Follow up consultations are 45mins.
If you have any questions about Perrin Technique and whether it’s suitable for you, please don’t hesitate to contact us using the form below and we will get back to you as soon as possible:
