Dr. Perrin’s Theory Dr. Perrin developed a groundbreaking theory about ME: Challenges and Breakthroughs At the time, Dr. Perrin’s theory faced significant challenges: However, Dr. Perrin persisted: Scientific Validation Over time, scientific discoveries began to support Dr. Perrin’s theory: The Perrin Technique Today Despite initial skepticism, the Perrin Technique has […]

Covid-19: Why do we miss touch so much?

In this blog, Lorna Rose (osteopath at Harper Road Osteopaths, London) explains why we are missing touch during Covid and what we gain from touch as humans. Touch is a fundamental aspect of human communication and well-being, playing a particularly crucial role for individuals with dementia and those experiencing isolation. Research has consistently demonstrated the profound benefits of human touch across various contexts. Physiologically, touch has significant effects on the body; it reduces levels of the stress hormone cortisol, increases serotonin to promote calmness, and releases oxytocin, often referred to as the “happiness hormone.” Additionally, touch induces physical relaxation and […]

Covid update – 5th August 2020 Osteopath Clinic in London Bridge

Covid update – 5th August 2020

It is now almost a month since we reopened our clinic following the lock down and it has been lovely seeing some familiar faces and welcoming lots of new patients to the practice. Although it seemed like a lot to get used to at first, we’re so grateful for how adaptable our patients have been to our new safety measures. Thanks in part to the enhanced hygiene procedures and operational changes we put in place prior to reopening, we haven’t been contacted by the track and trace team or knowingly had a single case of Covid in our patient population. […]

We decided that, on balance, the risk of becoming an unwitting vector for the virus despite advanced hygiene measures and screening was too high for us to take. We have set up an advisory telephone booking schedule for existing patients requiring advice or help with their individual treatment plans which we will be adapting to take account of the hands on element not being available at this time. it goes without saying that we wish […]

Make Physical Activity Part of Daily Life

One of the reasons I became an osteopath in the first place was a deep-seated belief that the pursuit of wellness is the most direct approach to battling the fight against disease and ill health. Osteopathy works on the principle that the body has everything it needs to keep itself working and well; it’s where there is a disturbance in the body’s ability to draw upon it’s own resources that ill health ensues. So keeping a healthy and active body, free from tensions and restrictions is key to staying healthy for longer.
